Monthly Archives: January 2012
Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you’re having an awesome start to your week! I’m going to be over at Castles and Guns today, kicking off my new every-other Monday spot by talking about writing and my early book influences. I even included a new excerpt from Slayer’s Kiss! Please stop by and say hi!
Wow! My debut novel, Slayer’s Kiss, is coming out one month from today, and I can hardly believe it!
If you’ve ever written a book, you know it’s not generally a short process. In fact, some have likened it to a pregnancy. And when you add on editing your rough draft, fine-tuning over and over, querying, finding a home for the book, editing again, and all the stuff that goes into getting a book ready for delivery—the day you finally get to share your book baby with others is all the more thrilling!
Pre-release reviews for Slayer’s Kiss have started coming in via e-mail, and they are so inspiring! The other day on Goodreads, a reviewer said, “WOW! Can’t wait to tell you about this book. You’re gonna be looking high and low for the next installment in this series when it debuts.”
I was so excited and so honored, I swear I got teary-eyed. I know not all reviews will be positive because people have such different tastes, and that’s okay, but the greatest part about hearing her words was that they were coming from someone who wanted to read my book just for the sheer pleasure of it.
At the end of the day, that’s why I’m writing. I want readers to be able to put aside their worries and stress for just a little while and enter into a world that’s exciting, suspenseful, and sexy! Knowing there are readers out there who are cooing over my creation makes the long gestation worth it. 😉
